Dale Jr. had his worst season as a full time driver during 2009. He had zero wins and only two top five finishes leading to a 25th place standing in the points. At the end of last year, Earnhardt's crew chief Lance McGrew joined forces with Mark Martin's crew chief, to revamp the headquarters the two teams share. Basically, the plan is to follow what Johnson and Gordon are doing at their headquarters. Share all information and only compete on race day. This new combination with Martin's team should help Little E tremendously. I plan to track Earnhardt's race by race results this season.

RACE TWO

Earnhardt has always struggled at the two-mile Auto Club Speedway oval. In 16 starts, he has never won and has finished in the top five only three times. Well, nothing changed Sunday. Little E finished 12 laps down after stopping for extensive repairs on lap 183 and his day was cooked. He finished in 32nd place and now has gone winless in 59 straight races.

Race 1: 2nd (points 2nd)
Race 2: 32nd (points 16th)

I like Jr as a person...I think he's a cool cat and just loves the atmosphere. But, he is not even a top 20 driver. He can race restrictor plates, just like his daddy. But outside of Talladega and Daytona, I wouldnt even remotely think about betting on him. Most overrated driver ever!

Fans love him strictly due to his name. If he was Joe Smith from Tennessee, he would be in the nationwide series.

Don't get me wrong, Jr nation is EVERYWHERE! I would like to pull for him, but I HATE being in the majority. White trash Jr fans make me sick....Just like Redskin and Cowboy fans.

Nascar NEEDS him to start winning races. He is their poster boy. Even NASCAR fans hate Jimmy Johnson b/c he has no personality

Phenom...respect your opinion my friend and on much I agree. My purpose for this thread was not to promote Junior. It was to chart a high profiled driver who needs a good year.

White trash BS makes my blood boil. White trash made NASCAR you SOB......fuck you on that one.

One reason NASCAR has dropped in ratings is they turned their backs on the White Trash. Now they understand the loss and are kissing White Trash asses to get them back. Hollywood BS didn't work.....................

Appreciate your post.

whoa whoa whoa....slow your role here, buckaroo. I agree white trash made the sport and is a big part of it. I just hate hearing uneducated people attempt to tell me why Jr is one the best drivers out there. Simply look at the stats. Even a retard can notice Jr isnt a great driver

So thanks for calling me a SOB and fuck you too. how bout them apples?

Sincerely,

A Nascar fan with a college degree

Yes his dad was a fantastic Driver
Yes his "type" of fans made Nascar
Yes he is the most over rated driver in the history of Nascar....

Sometimes I just dont understand how he possibly has so many fans. He has that swagger of Nascar which is cool, and he does a great job of walking and talking like a great driver but when he comes down to it, he is flat out not good.

He has been given the best equipment, the best staff, the best everything and still has not performed. Changing teams, crew cheif all these things were supposed to make a difference and yet the results are the same. The only common factor is Dale Jr himself. He is the problem.

People seem to get real angry when asked why they are a Dale Jr. fan, but the fact remains that he is terrible.

Dont mean to hijack your thread because I know your intentions are to track his progress, just wanted to add my two cents

Papa...good post and comment anytime.

Nascar, I also have a college education but it does not make me better than those who don't.

Never once did I say I was better than those who dont have a degree. But when I hear a guy with a mullet, cut off jean shorts, drinking a budweiser and tuggin his wife by the hair trying to tell me why Jr is the 2nd greatest driver to ever drive a car, I don't pay him much mind.

As I said earlier, just look at his stats. I commend people for defending their favorite teams in sports, but I ask that they at least stay realistic. I am a UVA college fan and a Oakland A's fan, so I am well aware that my teams suck, and I root for them anyways. I dont tell people that my teams are the best thing since sliced bread if I have no way to back up my statement

Jr hasnt won a race in 59 starts...and that last win was him winning on fuel mileage strategy...Great guy, but overhyped driver

After finishing 32nd in California, Earnhardt improve this week in Las Vegas with a 16th place finish. He started 4th but was never a serious factor in the race. Now, on to Atlanta where he has 1 win, 8 top 5's, 10 top 10's and an average finish of 11.9. Junior's last win was June 15, 2008 in Michigan.

Race 1: 2nd (pts 2nd)
Race 2: 32nd (pts 16th)
Race 3: 16th (pts 15th)

Dale Jr's Career Record:
18 wins
89 top 5's
143 top 10's
16.7 ave finish

RACE FOUR (ATLANTA)

Pole winner Earnhardt lost the lead on the first lap but was running near the front when a mysterious tire problem sent him to the pits on lap 114 under a green flag. He radioed that a tire felt loose, but the crew found it fully inflated after making the change. Junior returned to the track just as teammate Mark Martin blew a tire, which sent him spinning through the trioval grass to bring out a caution flag. The unfortunate timing cost Earnhardt dearly; he slipped a lap down and never got back in the mix, though all the trouble at the end boosted him to 15th. "We weren't very good," Earnhardt said. "It felt like the damn wheels were coming off."

Race 1: 2nd (pts 2nd)
Race 2: 32nd (pts 16th)
Race 3: 16th (pts 15th)
Race 4: 15th (pts 13th)

His winless streak is now 61 races.

RACE FIVE

Earnhardt had worked his way to fifth shortly after the halfway point, but he was called for speeding with 174 laps remaining. The penalty dropped him down to 26th. He then regained his composure and battled back for a seventh place finish. This marks the second top-10 finish and got him back inside the top eight in points for the first time in 48 races. The last time Dale Jr. was this high in the points was the third Chase race of 2008.

Race 1: 2nd (pts 2nd)
Race 2: 32nd (pts 16th)
Race 3: 16th (pts 15th)
Race 4: 15th (pts 13th)
Race 5: 7th (pts 8th)

Bristol was a good points race for Junior. Lets see if he can keep
it going.

RACE SIX (MARTINSVILLE)

After 6 races and 1554 laps, Junior is holding down 10th in the points standing. An uneventful race at Martinsville didn't really help or hurt his chase that much. NASCAR's highest money earner has picked up $1,610,230 in winnings this season. He made over $30 million last year with endorsements etc. So far this season he has no wins and has led a total of 4 laps. $1.6 million not bad for just leading 4 laps. Next race will be in Phoenix where Little E has won twice. NASCAR takes a break this weekend for Easter.

Race 1: 2nd...2nd pts
Race 2: 32nd...16th pts
Race 3: 16th...15th pts
Race 4: 15th...13th pts
Race 5: 7th...8th pts
Race 6: 15th...10th pts

Earnhardt has won twice at Phoenix and has an average finish of 19.2 during his career. The guy needs a win badly..........
